ING Media is hiring a business development manager to join its team in London.

Based in Shoreditch, London, ING is one of the UK’s most exciting PR and communications agencies. We have a team of exceptional consultants specialising in one of the most exciting and creative sectors, the built environment.

Our team supports a UK and international client base that spans architecture and design, property and investment, cities, regeneration and culture.

ING is a fully employee-owned business, with 100% of the shares held in an Employee Ownership Trust on behalf of all ING Media employees.

We are looking for a highly motivated, confident and results-driven business development manager to join our expanding team. In this position, you will play a crucial role in helping ING achieve its business goals and strategic objectives.

Working closely with ING’s senior management team, you will support the development and delivery of sector-specific business development plans, researching and identifying new markets, trends and potential clients to unlock new business opportunities.

Energy and enthusiasm to bring new ideas on ways to engage with clients are fundamental to this role. Invariably acting as the first point of contact for enquiries from potential clients, the business development manager is integral to providing a professional and personal introduction to ING and its services and then coordinating our team’s response to client briefs and tenders.

The successful candidate will be an expert at managing and prioritising the delivery of new business submissions according to competing deadlines. They will also be a stickler for thoroughness, accuracy, and consistency, in keeping with ING’s reputation for attention to detail and high-quality work.

Past experience of working in the built environment would be preferable but curiosity in this important, diverse and exciting industry is a must. As business development manager, you will play a pivotal role within the agency.

Key responsibilities include:

  • managing and appraising all incoming RFPs/RFQs/RFIs and other new business enquiries
  • initial liaison with potential clients to clarify communications requirements and provide an introduction to ING and its services
  • overseeing and coordinating the timely production of the ING team’s response to submissions
  • represent ING at events and conferences in the UK and internationally
    management of business development coordinator
  • conducting market research to inform submissions
  • regular reviewing of public tender portals for new opportunities
  • the collation of information required for public tender responses
  • maintaining and refining ING’s CRM database, taking ownership of business development section
  • preparing regular BD reports and status updates, including analysis of pipeline trends (monthly and ad hoc)

The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate the following personal attributes and key skills:

  • experience in marketing and/or business development
  • excellent communication and organisational skills
  • a proactive approach to project delivery and problem-solving
  • strong people management skills
  • excellent attention to detail
  • experience with CRM systems (Microsoft Dynamics)
  • ability to interpret data from CRM system
  • proficiency in MS Office and Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign, is essential; experience with Meltwater preferred
  • excellence in English, spoken and written
