Communications coordinator
at SALT
SALT is looking for a communications coordinator to join its team in London.
SALT is an independent communications studio telling the stories of great design. We work with architects, design studios and product designers across the UK and EU who believe in and practice sustainable design, offer progressive studio environments and value people as much as place.
We are looking for a communications coordinator to join our beautiful De Beauvoir studio 4.5 days a week. The salary range for this position is £28,000-£30,000 pro-rata depending on experience.
This role is best suited to a warm, proactive person who thrives in a small business context. No two days are the same; we’re a close team and enjoy a flexible and collaborative day-to-day.
We are looking for a good egg; someone kind, open-minded, trustworthy, and here to celebrate our clients and SALT in all they do. You will be expected to use your initiative and roll up your sleeves across all aspects of client work and the growth of SALT in the long run.
Your main daily activities:
- liaison with clients, attending regular meetings/calls and updating on all activities
- writing press releases, awards entries, thought leadership content for a variety of clients
- press office management for clients including pitching, responding to inbound press requests, and tracking coverage
- inputting on press strategy for one-off and retainer campaigns, creating and managing media matrix grids
- working collaboratively with press, clients, photographers & colleagues
- client management including attending monthly meetings, actioning tasks, and reporting on completed activity
- attending events where necessary including site visits, press tours, and client events
You need:
- minimum of two years’ communications or PR experience in architecture or built environment industries, preferably with existing contacts and relationships
- a creative eye and understanding of the design media landscape
- existing media contacts within the architecture, interiors and product industries
- to be a keen learner and self-starter with an eye on continual professional development
- to be capable of collaboration with team and clients and also work well autonomously
- a capable researcher, able to find new opportunities for coverage
- genuine and friendly with excellent interpersonal skills
- have excellent written grammar
- able to adapt tone of voice to different client content types
- able to work to deadlines
- proficient in Google Suite, Canva, MailChimp and Adobe platforms
Helpful details:
- this is a London-based position based in our De Beauvoir studio
- there is flexibility to include hybrid working
- the role reports to the director
- SALT is often invited to building tours, client studios, journalist meetings and events, which usually fall within work hours, although attendance to events outside working hours will be required
- national and international travel will be required irregularly depending on client events, site tours, design festivals and launches
