About us

In Camden, we are committed to working together to make our borough the best place to live, work, study, and visit. Partnership with our communities is central to the way we work, so that everyone can access opportunities, and nobody gets left behind. Here’s where you can help decide a better future for us all.

‘We make Camden’ is our shared vision for the borough and it’s leading to the delivery of some of the best new development in the country. The design and place service is key to that success working with our communities to shape the vision for our neighbourhoods and working collaboratively with other services and partners on projects that deliver the vision.

The role

We’re seeking a senior planner to join our placeshaping team within the design and place service. As part of our team, you’ll help transform Camden Borough by creating visions and planning frameworks and collaborating with communities. You’ll work closely with the development plans team to develop policies and design codes for cohesive development and with the property team to produce site briefs and feasibility studies. You’ll also work with other services such as development management, transport and housing. Your role will involve providing planning expertise, producing area based strategies and guidance, conducting research and engaging with our internal and external stakeholders. This is an opportunity to shape the future of our borough and make a real difference through placemaking. If you’re passionate about urban development and ready to contribute to a collaborative team, apply now by clicking the button below.

About you

We’re looking for a proactive planner with a strategic mindset and a passion for placemaking to join our team. You should have a strong grasp of local authority planning, with an interest or expertise in urban design. Your role will involve delivering corporate objectives through area-based planning, requiring knowledge of national and local planning issues. We’re looking for someone ambitious, flexible and collaborative, with excellent communication and presentation skills at a range of levels.

Experience in stakeholder management, participation, and engagement is essential. You will need to have experience using Adobe Creative Suite and GIS software.

Working for Camden

We’re ready to welcome your ideas, your views and your rebellious spirit. Help us redefine how we’re supporting our communities, and we’ll redefine what a career can be. If that sounds good to you, we’d love to talk.

We particularly welcome applications from Black, Asian and those of other ethnicities, LGBT+, disabled and neurodiverse communities to make a real difference to our residents so that equality and justice remain at the heart of everything we do.
