Matteo Thun & Partners is looking for a senior interior designer to join its team in Munich.

The role

The senior interior designer will join the department of interior design in close relationship with the architecture department, the styling team and the graphic department.

Main responsibilities and duties:

  • share and develop the interior design vision of the studio – especially in detailed design planning phases
  • to take responsibility for the development of the design and the project with input from the partner in charge
  • to coordinate and lead the internal design team of the project in Munich
  • to develop with the team drawings, models, images, material and mood boards and other documents relating to the design and execution phases
  • to liaise where appropriate with members of the design team in Milan and other associated organisations and companies, especially the technical engineers in Germany
  • to seek continuing professional development to keep abreast of current design trends and materials and technologies related to the realisation

Qualities and skills

The successful candidate should have at least eight years’ experience and should have the following characteristics:

  • diploma or degree in interior design, interior architecture or architecture
  • good understanding of and affinity with the studio’s design approach
  • an aptitude for knowledge and research
  • fluent Geman and good knowledge of English language
  • excellent communication, problem-solving and organisational skills
  • previous experience in architectural and interior design projects
  • ability to understand and formulate design intents and decisions
  • ability to integrate interior design requirements with architecture
  • high interest and experience in detailed design
  • excellent knowledge of creative and technical software packages, in Archicad, Adobe Suite and MS Office
  • attention to detail, legal requirements, fire protection, acoustics, lighting
  • ability to multitask
  • propensity to embrace change quickly
  • positive attitude
  • ability to work collaboratively in teams
  • available to travel
