Part 1/2 architectural assistant

L+Architects is seeking a Part 1/2 architectural assistant with UK work experience to join its team in London.

This position is to work in person full-time at our studio in East Sheen. We are looking for a person who works well on their own and as part of a design team, who has great customer-facing skills as well as design skills and will enjoy our small supportive and collaborative approach. Only people that have the right to work in the UK should apply and you will need at least two years’ experience at another practice. We are an equal opportunity employer. L+ Architects employ a small but dynamic team of architects and support staff, and we work on luxury residential and commercial Architecture. All our staff are driven by our biophilic philosophy, vision and passion for outstanding design. Our main studio space is in East Sheen, Richmond, London, UK where our full-time architects are based. We also work from Exeter, Devon, and Almeria in Spain.

Pablo Lambrechts and Lindsey Webster, a married couple who share a passion for sustainable and biophilic design, founded L+ Architects in 2018. Pablo brings a wealth of experience as the principal architect of a global firm, leading the design of notable projects such as the Google headquarters in Kings Cross. He has worked with renowned clients in both commercial and luxury residential architecture. Meanwhile, Lindsey’s successful career includes working with gardening teams at BBC and Time Warner before establishing her own garden design practice and becoming a qualified landscape architect. Our team combines our technical expertise, corporate background, and commitment to quality with the personalized customer service of a small, family-run studio. Collaboratively, we bring your dream projects to life. Our London studio is a vibrant place to work, a small studio, with a big personality.

Required:

  • relevant architectural qualifications and UK experience
  • good construction knowledge and practical understanding of common construction methods
  • high proficiency in AutoCAD, Photoshop, Illustrator and SketchUp
  • strong design and graphic presentation skills
  • relevant work permits and currently resident in the UK
  • excellent communication skills with fluent written English and spoken English at a native level
  • passionate, hard-working, self-motivated, well organised and diligent
  • ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
  • strong design skills with a focus on context, sustainability, and innovative materials
  • a high level of design and technical awareness evidenced through a portfolio of project experience

Desirable:

  • interest and experience in client liaison
  • knowledge of Revit and other 3D packages
  • experience in projects that emphasise sustainable design
  • growth mindset with a passion for our practice
  • interest in architectural marketing and knowledge of social media
