Double Decker is seeking an art consultant with experience in the hospitality industry to join its studio in London.
Double Decker is a curating studio specialising in composing art collections tailored for the hospitality industry, infusing spaces with sophistication and a touch of avant-garde flair.
Double Decker was founded in 2009 by the visionary duo Wilhelm Finger and Melita Skamnaki, supported by an international multidisciplinary team and an extensive network of specialists.
With a background in curatorial studies and diverse expertise spanning fashion, communication, design and art history, Wilhelm, Melita and their team, bring a unique perspective to their projects. Their keen eye for talent forecasting allows them to discover emerging artists and trends ahead of the curve, ensuring that each project reflects the pulse of contemporary artistic expression.
With a roster of clients including Cunard, Four Seasons, Rosewood, Seabourn, 25hours hotels and cultural institutions including the Design Museum, Double Decker is a leading studio in shaping meaningful brand identities through visual art.
Based in the creative heart of Soho, London, this is a unique opportunity to work alongside our talented creative directors, curating exceptional art collections for luxury hotels around the globe.
Key responsibilities
As an art consultant, you will play a vital role in shaping the artistic vision of our projects, with responsibilities including:
- conducting artist research, managing relationships and overseeing communication
- preparing presentations for global clients in the hospitality sector
- leading client presentations and facing clients directly
- interpreting and organising plans and elevations provided by prestigious hospitality clients, ensuring smooth execution
- creating technical drawings and production specifications for artisans and fabricators, ensuring clarity and precision
- supporting the space planning and installation of art collections
- meticulously documenting all artwork to preserve important details
- staying updated on trends in interior design and hospitality brands
- managing budgets and handling detailed production and artist briefs
Qualifications and skills
We are looking for someone with:
- a degree or equivalent in curating, interior design, art direction, FF&E or industrial design
- proven experience in art consulting, specifically within the high-end hospitality sector
- an understanding of Double Decker’s distinct aesthetic and ability to apply it effectively
- strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- proficiency in AutoCAD 2D, InDesign, Photoshop, MS Word and Excel
- familiarity with reading and interpreting plans and elevations
- excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective teamwork and client interaction
- a keen eye for detail and a commitment to producing work of the highest standard
- a valid UK work visa
