London, UK
Senior interior designer
at Horizontal Design
Horizontal Design is seeking a senior interior designer to join its team in London.
About us
Horizontal Design, regarded as a representative of contemporary design, is home to a dynamic team of international young talents. Since its establishment in 2003, the studio has remained at the forefront of innovation, delivering thoughtful and refined design solutions across the disciplines of architecture, interior, landscape, and product design.
Rooted in oriental culture, art, and philosophy, Horizontal Design explores the contemporary relevance of traditional culture. Each project is defined by its distinct identity and vibrant engagement with life.
While deeply connected to our cultural heritage, our presence in Europe offers a fresh source of inspiration. We believe that Eastern and Western design philosophies can coexist beautifully, enriching each other through contrast and dialogue. Both perspectives are equally relevant to the way we think, create, and design. Our London studio is an exciting platform for this cultural interplay – a place where innovation thrives through collaboration, diversity, and mutual respect.
The role
We are currently looking for a senior interior designer with a strong architectural background to join our London team. This is a key role in a small, dynamic studio environment, offering a high level of design responsibility, creative freedom, and the opportunity to contribute to the shaping of a young but ambitious team.
Our ideal candidate is passionate about both architecture and interior design and is comfortable navigating the space between the two. You’ll work across all project stages, from concept to completion, and collaborate closely with our London-based team.
Skills and requirements:
- master’s degree in architecture or interior design (or a related field)
- minimum of five years’ of professional experience in the UK is required – applications that do not meet this requirement will not be considered
Proven experience in working across all project stages, from concept to detailing and delivery - strong sense of spatial design, materials, atmosphere, and detailing, with a portfolio that demonstrates a refined and contemporary approach
- capable of managing multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
- experience coordinating with consultants, contractors, and clients
- proficient in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign), and other relevant design tools. Rhino is a plus
- a collaborative mindset – you thrive in a team environment, are open to critique, and ready to put the project’s success above personal ego
- excellent written and verbal communication skills
- fluent in English
What we’re looking dor:
- a designer who can seamlessly navigate between interiors and architecture, and thrives in a hybrid, interdisciplinary role
- someone who brings both vision and precision – creatively ambitious but detail-attentive
- a proactive, responsible, and solutions-oriented mindset
- a passion for cross-cultural design thinking, with an appreciation for both Eastern and Western aesthetics and philosophies
Working conditions
Please note that this is a full-time, office-based position. Working from the office five days a week is essential, and we do not currently offer a work-from-home or hybrid scheme.
Why join us?
- the chance to be part of a growing international studio with exciting cross-cultural projects and design ambitions
- high level of responsibility and creative input from day one
- open, supportive and design-led studio culture
- engage in a creative environment that blends cultural perspectives and fosters personal and professional growth
