Mid-weight interior designer

Rebecca Hughes Interiors is looking for a mid-weight interior designer to join its team in London.

Rebecca Hughes Interiors is a creatively driven, high-end interior design studio, utilising a collaborative approach with clients to transform space. We believe that we are all shaped by our environments, so our passion is to design homes that uniquely represent our clients at the core. Our style utilises the existing architecture of buildings, which is then enhanced by selected interior finishes to create luxurious and liveable spaces.

This role is based five days a week at our head office in Islington, London.

Working hours 9am to 5:30pm Monday to Friday.

You are a highly motivated individual with a proven track record in high end residential interior design, and you thrive in a fast-paced environment. Passionate about design, you have the expertise to lead projects confidently from concept to delivery. You balance creative vision with a strong technical understanding, ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget and to the highest standard. You are an organised self-starter, able to prioritise competing demands, working across multiple projects and you operate well both independently as well as part of a team.

Key responsibilities:

  • develop creative design concepts and client presentations with a confident presentation skillset
  • produce comprehensive drawing packages, including design intent, general arrangements and construction
  • create detailed design documentation and schedules ensuring exceptional quality
  • manage project timelines and project budgets
  • onsite construction experience, liaising with suppliers and contractors and ensuring that design intent and quality are maintained to an exceptional level
  • to communicate effectively with clients, contractors and the design team
  • to have a broad supplier knowledge of hard finishes, FF&E (including antiques) and bespoke furniture and joinery suppliers
  • to be observant of surroundings, constantly drawing inspiration from various sources, creating original designs and creative solutions
  • represent the company professionally and uphold our high standards
  • supervise junior designers and studio interns when necessary

Required qualifications and skills:

  • a degree in interior design or interior architecture
  • four plus years’ post-degree industry experience, ideally in high end residential projects
  • proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Suite, Estimac, Microsoft Office
  • outstanding communication skills, operating at a high level of written and spoken English
