Senior architect

Own London Studio is seeking a senior architect to join its team in London.

The role

  • responsible for delivering architectural packages from concept to construction
  • acting as lead between your team and local partners, reporting directly to project directors
  • assisting project leads with design detailing and reviewing of packages at RIBA stages
  • a strong knowledge of residential Building Regulations
    Identifying design risk and ensuring assessments in accordance with CDM are carried out and applied.
  • prepare and make presentations to clients
  • responsible for project deliverables, meeting multiple project design schedules
  • produce design programs for every stage of the process
  • manage and mentor a small project team
  • manage and coordinate team resources and monitor project progress
  • you will be responsible for all design and technical aspects of a project, ensuring it is delivered to the required timeframes
  • site visits and coordinating with the construction team on the delivery of the projects
  • work closely with the creative director and project director on conceptual designs, presentations, design development and production

Skills and experience required:

  • project running experience for ten plus years’ preferably in high-end residential and interior architecture in the UK, London specifically
  • proficiency in AutoCAD, Photoshop, Adobe Creative Suite and SketchUp
  • relevant architectural/construction qualifications
  • experience with listed buildings and basement construction
  • a strong understanding of construction detailing and drafting
  • skilled at being able to identify project risks and resolving conflicts
  • a solid understanding of the planning process, RIBA stages of development, CDM and the UK development industry
  • experience in preparing and submitting planning applications
  • great knowledge of interior materials for boutique and luxury residential sectors
  • able to prioritise tasks, working on several projects at once
  • great problem-solving skills if faced with an issue, able to evaluate all the possible solutions
  • quick lateral and forward-thinking capabilities with the ability to stay calm and positive under pressure
  • excellent English with strong verbal and written communication skills
  • confident communicator and comfortable in dealing with clients

This is role allows for one day working from home per week. Expected in the office four days per week.
