William Tozer Associates is seeking a Part 2 architectural assistant to join its team in London.

We are currently seeking a Part 2 architectural assistant with a minimum of one year of work experience (ideally residential) to join our small award-winning practice in Clerkenwell. We are currently shortlisted for the Architect of Year Awards in the individual house category, and the role presents the opportunity to work on design-led projects of this type.

The successful candidate will be based in our London studio, with flexibility to work from home at least one day a week if preferred. We are located in the Record Hall, a stylish, modern building off Leather Lane market in Clerkenwell, which features a communal café, break-out spaces, a rooftop terrace, bicycle storage, and shower facilities.

The position offers ideal experience in preparation for the RIBA Part 3 examination. The mainstay of our project workload is the extension and refurbishment of terrace houses in central London, which presents the opportunity to quickly learn all aspects of project-running and building contract administration. We have also completed projects in other sectors, and in the US, Australia, and New Zealand, and our work is informed by an international perspective.

All of our work is approached through a distinct design approach, using volumes and planes to create sculptural forms and spaces that evoke the open-ended qualities of buildings during their conception, demolition and construction. Experience with Vectorworks, Sketchup, and Enscape is preferred, but we are also open to candidates who are willing and able to learn new software quickly. As a small practice, we need a candidate prepared to get involved with other non-project-related work as necessary for the day-to-day running of the business.

The position is for a fixed term of 12 months, with the possibility of renewal or transition to a permanent role, depending on workload.

Salary will be based on experience in relation to RIBA salary guide for a small practice.
