Emma Kirby Design is looking to hire an in-house architect/architectural technician to become a key member of our small, innovative studio in Oxfordshire. We specialise in high-end residential and hospitality projects and have a robust pipeline of exciting work that promises to challenge and inspire.

The role
We are seeking a talented design professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and excels at producing detailed design drawings in CAD for RIBA Stages 4a and 4b, while also developing designs to Stage 3. In this role, you will primarily focus on preparing precise construction drawings for projects built by our in-house contracting team, ensuring that all designs comply with building regulations and industry standards. Additionally, you will produce comprehensive drawing packages for client projects going out to tender. Your expertise will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality, buildable designs that meet our clients’ expectations and contribute to the overall success of our projects.
Key responsibilities:
- collaborate closely with a small, dynamic team of RIBA Architects designers and consultants, both in-office and remotely, across multiple live projects
- quickly interpret and execute briefs from EKD directors with precision and creativity
- prepare detailed construction drawings that are accurate, buildable, and compliant with all relevant regulations
- develop coordinated designs that transition seamlessly from concept through to construction
- contribute to the preparation and submission of planning applications
- uphold a strong commitment to quality and efficiency throughout the design process
What we’re looking for:
- a proven track record in developing accurate and buildable design details for residential and hospitality projects
- extensive experience in producing detailed design drawings for RIBA Stages 4a and 4b
- a collaborative spirit with the ability to work effectively within a small team, demonstrating flexibility and initiative
- excellent communication skills, with a talent for presenting ideas clearly to clients and stakeholders
- experience with heritage projects is a distinct advantage
