TDC & Co is hiring a mid/senior level interior designer to join its team in Cape Town, South Africa.
Location: Paarden Eiland, Cape Town
TDC & Co is a leading South African design firm based in Cape Town. For over 30 years, we’ve created innovative and functional retail spaces for both local and international brands. Our client list includes notable names such as the Foschini Group (TFG), Shoprite Checkers, Woolworths, Mr Price Group, and Zara.
We’re a team of designers and strategic thinkers with a global outlook and a strong focus on retail environments and customer experience, and we are currently looking for an interior designer to join our team.
Key responsibilities:
- oversee all design elements, from the initial conception to final delivery
- review the work of junior designers to give guidance and feedback
- have hands-on experience with relevant and other design software
- strong eye for aesthetics and visual details to ensure a quality final product
- listen to design needs, come up with ideas and communicate them to clients and other members of the team
- manage expectations and needs from the client through proactive and positive communication
- manage timelines and design phases across all business units
- delegate design tasks and provide support for junior-level design team members
- maintain high standards of quality and make sure only the best work is released to clients
- collaborate across the organisation to drive up standards of creativity
- travel upon request for presentations and design management
Minimum qualifications and experience:
- relevant interior design or architectural degree from a recognised institution
- a minimum of five years’ experience obtained in a retail environment
- experience leading a team of designers
- proficient in a variety of computer software applications, including SketchUp, Revit (advantageous), Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook), AutoCAD and Photoshop
Skills and attributes:
- strong interpersonal and communication skills/written and verbal, as this position is client-facing
- out of the box creative thinker
- proactive individual with proven strength in attention to detail and the ability to successfully manage multiple tasks simultaneously, whilst maintaining quality
- collaborate with the broader creative team to understand project needs
- task-driven with the ability to meet tight deadlines
- ability to work well under pressure and manage one’s own workflow
- good written and verbal communication skills
- up-to-date knowledge of current design trends
