UNITY Studio is hiring a Part 2 architectural assistant to join its team in London.

Scope of duties – Part 2 architectural assistant

We have a very exciting opportunity to join our talented in-house architectural and interior design studio – UNITY Studio.

The successful candidate will support the team from concept to completion working on a variety of beautiful heritage buildings in London.

This position is ideally suited to a recently qualified (RIBA) Part 2 architectural graduate requiring brilliant Part 3 experience.

The role offers excellent hands-on experience with design and construction and the chance to see projects develop on site working alongside the current experienced and collaborative in-house team.

Design development:

  • assist in the preparation of architectural designs, including concept sketches and 3D models
  • contribute to the development of design proposals in collaboration with senior architects and external project teams
  • produce presentations, visualizations and graphical information to communicate design ideas effectively

Technical documentation:

  • prepare detailed technical drawings and specifications for planning and construction purposes
  • coordinate with other consultants (structural engineers, MEP engineers etc.) to ensure technical integration
  • assist in the production of schedules, material specifications, and construction detailing

Project coordination:

  • support project management tasks, including monitoring deadlines, budgets, and the design delivery progress
  • participate in design team meetings and site visits to ensure alignment with project objectives
  • liaise with consultants, contractors, and local authorities as required

Regulatory compliance:

  • assist in ensuring designs comply with building regulations, planning policies, and relevant codes
  • assist in the preparation of planning applications, building control submissions and other statutory documentation

Research and development:

  • conduct research on materials, construction methods, and sustainability strategies
  • stay informed of current architectural trends, technologies, and legislation

Office and administrative support:

  • assist in maintaining project files, documentation, and drawing libraries
  • provide support for internal quality control processes and standard operating
    procedures

Requirements:

  • RIBA Part 2 Qualification (or equivalent)
  • professional experience: one to two years’ of relevant work experience (ideally London-based)
  • technical skills: competency in architectural drawing, CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit etc. Microstation ideal but not necessary), 3D modelling (SketchUp, Rhino, etc.), and strong graphical presentation skills demonstrated in a considered, well-articulated portfolio
  • knowledge of UK Building Regulations, planning requirements, and construction methods is highly desirable
