Burgess Architects is hiring an architect to join its practice in London.
Burgess Architects is looking for an inquisitive and enthusiastic registered architect with three to five years’ experience post Part 2 to join its busy design-led practice in Kennington in London.

in-house passivhaus designers, with low carbon design informing all our work - design-focused
- published (AJ, RIBAJ, Evening Standard, Radical Housing book etc.) and award winning / shortlisted (DMI/NLA/RIBA etc.)
- R&D focus with continual innovation and use of new materials and technologies
- And team-focused, profit-shy; currently actively transitioning to B-Corp (complete April 2027)
Your Responsibilities:
- day-to-day responsibility for two-three projects depending on size and work stage
- pro-actively manage your projects, setting deadlines and coordinating the design
- liaise with consultants and contractors as required, report to the client
- all with ready support from the rest of the team
- collaborate on design discussions on all office projects
- support and direct juniors on tasks on your projects
- develop a specialism and become office lead in anything; social media, sustainable services, the perfect toastie
- interest and commitment to developing the practice outlook and culture as we grow
Your skills and experience:
- RIBA-accredited Part 3 qualified architect with three years’ experience in UK post Part 2 on small scale/domestic projects for RIBA Stage 4-5 minimum
- design-focused with passion for detailing and materiality
- self-motivated independent worker
- experience of managing jobs on-site, liaising with contractors and the contract administration processes
- software in use: Vectorworks, SketchUp, InDesign, Photoshop, Word, Excel
Your attributes:

- careful, thorough and keen to take responsibility and initiative
- independent worker with exceptional organisational skills and efficient approach to tasks
- excellent communication skills in written and spoken English
eligible to work in the UK
Salary commensurate with experience.
