Maternity cover with the possibility of a permanent position.
Tom Turner Architects is a Brighton-based architecture and interior design practice specialising in high-end English country houses across the south-east of England.
We are seeking a talented and organised mid-weight interior designer to join our Brighton studio for a 12 month maternity cover contract, with the possibility of a permanent position depending on circumstances. The role offers the opportunity to work across all stages of bespoke residential projects, collaborating closely with architects, clients, craftspeople and consultants.
Role overview
The successful candidate will contribute creatively and technically to a range of high-end residential interiors, from concept design through to delivery on site. A strong understanding of the English house aesthetic, excellent organisational skills, and a collaborative approach are essential.
Key responsibilities:
- preparation of plans, elevations and detailed interior design drawings, including coordination with M&E
- development of interior design concepts, mood boards and client presentations
- design of bespoke joinery and coordination with craftspeople
- development of FF&E schemes, including sourcing furniture, lighting, soft furnishings, art, antiques and reclaimed materials
- kitchen and bathroom design, including specification of sanitaryware, finishes and bespoke elements
- production of detailed design packages, schedules and specifications
- supplier liaison, showroom visits and coordination of bespoke items
- attendance at client and site meetings (often in rural locations)
- organisation of FF&E proformas, procurement, deliveries and installations
- professional communication with clients, suppliers, consultants and contractors
Requirements:
- minimum three to six years’ professional experience within an interior design or interior architecture studio
- strong design sensibility with excellent attention to detail
- proven ability to manage multiple projects with confidence
- experience in Vectorworks and Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite preferred
- good knowledge of FF&E suppliers, materials, finishes and detailing
- clear communication skills and a collaborative, adaptable approach
- ability to work independently and as part of a small team
Working arrangements:
- full-time or part-time considered
- flexible working arrangements available depending on personal circumstances
- studio-based role in Brighton’s historic Lanes, with some site travel required
