Marketing and communications coordinator

Future Firm is hiring a marketing and communications coordinator to join its team in Chicago.

Future Firm is a Chicago-based architecture and design research office. We are architects for changemakers. Founded in 2015, the architecture practice spans diverse scales: from exhibition spaces to non-profit facility projects to commercial buildings to urban and territorial speculations. We focus on using design to synthesize the aims and efforts of multiple stakeholders, catalyze transformation for individuals and groups, and create flexible space for diverse needs.

We are seeking a creative and detailed-oriented marketing coordinator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for working with firm leadership to design and develop project pursuits and business development efforts including proposals and interview materials; manage the firm’s social media, assist with press relations, manage public engagements and events; and implement other marketing strategies to promote the firm, our clients, and relevant projects to multiple audiences. The position will also require coordination and collaboration with a consultant media relations team, firm leadership, and office staff.

As part of a design-focused and growing practice, we are seeking a candidate who is independent, self-motivated, positive, and who also has strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset. Additionally, this role requires the ability to work on multiple projects or tasks simultaneously, creating proposals in InDesign, prioritizing work, and collaborating with diverse teams.

Key responsibilities include

Business development:

  • contribute to the execution of business development strategies with a keen awareness of current trends and opportunities in the architecture and design field
  • identify and pursue new opportunities for project acquisition and partnerships, staying abreast of industry developments
  • collaborate closely with firm leadership to design and develop compelling proposals for new projects that showcase our values and strengths

Marketing and communication:

  • awards coordination, including developing a list of potential award submissions and prioritizing submissions and preparing awards documentation
  • manage the firm’s social media presence closely aligned with firm leadership
  • website management: use existing templates to keep the firm’s website up to date with the latest images, text, and news about Future Firm
  • website design: assist with design updates to the primary Future Firm website and futurefirm.space.
  • publications, including prescriptions magazine: relaunch Rx-Mag to interview architects, designers, and makers of all kinds. Design, print, and distribute publication

Brand management and artistic direction:

  • uphold and enhance the firm’s brand identity across all marketing materials. Maintain brand guidelines and ensure brand consistency in all communications
  • manage design team’s implementation of brand standards across client presentations and other materials

Events and programming:

  • plan and organize firm-related events, seminars, workshops, and networking opportunities to expand the firm’s presence within the architectural community and among potential clients at the firm and elsewhere
  • exhibitions, with Future Firm as curator and participant, including Night Gallery: participate in exhibition efforts from design, curating, and organizing roles, including both self-initiated as well those organized by others

Qualifications:

  • bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, architecture, english, art history, or related field. Master’s degree is a plus
  • expertise in Adobe Creative Suite is required
  • five to ten years experience in marketing roles, preferably within the architecture, design, or construction industry
  • strong understanding of marketing principles, strategies, and trends
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • proficiency in digital marketing tools, content management systems, and analytics platforms
  • creative thinking with a strategic mindset and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
