London, UK
Project architect
at Burrell Foley Fischer

BFF Architects is looking for a project architect to join its London studio.

Project architect (three plus years’ experience post-Part 3) to lead extraordinary projects.

If you’re ready to lead projects rather than simply work on them, solving complex problems, working directly with clients and shaping architecture that genuinely matters, we’d like to hear from you.

From restoring internationally significant theatres and listed music venues, to reimagining sports grandstands and civic buildings, our projects demand creativity, technical excellence and the confidence to lead. We’re looking for someone who shares that ambition.

About BFF

BFF architects are an award-winning architectural practice specialising in heritage, culture, performance venues and complex existing buildings.

Not every architect gets to work on buildings people already love. Our work spans theatres, music venues, museums, historic estates, civic buildings, visitor attractions and cultural institutions across the UK. We’re proud to have been shortlisted for Architect of the Year Awards again this year, reflecting the quality of our work and the ambition of our team.

Every project is different.

The role

We’re looking for an ARB registered architect with around three or more years’ professional experience post-Part 2 who is ready to take ownership of projects and become an integral member of our team.

You’ll be trusted to lead projects, build client relationships and take schemes from concept through technical design and construction. You’ll work closely with directors but will also be expected to manage your own workload, make informed design decisions and coordinate multidisciplinary consultant teams. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to take the next significant step in their career.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • can confidently lead architectural projects and take responsibility for their successful delivery
  • communicates professionally with clients, stakeholders, consultants and contractors
  • has a genuine interest in retrofit and working with existing buildings
  • enjoys technical detailing and takes pride in producing well-considered architecture
  • has excellent design skills and strong technical knowledge
  • understands UK Building Regulations and construction
  • is able to effectively lead and motivate a project team of around two to four
  • is organised, proactive and enjoys working collaboratively
  • has experience using Revit (preferred) and Vectorworks (desirable)

What you’ll be working on

Our portfolio includes:

  • listed theatres and music venues
  • historic sports venues and grandstands
  • National Lottery Heritage Fund projects
  • conservation and adaptive reuse
  • cultural and civic buildings
  • new interventions within historic settings

Why join BFF?

You’ll work on projects that most architects only ever get to visit.

You’ll be trusted with responsibility early, supported by experienced Directors, and encouraged to develop your own relationships with clients and consultant teams. Our projects are technically challenging, creatively rewarding and genuinely varied. We work across every RIBA stage and believe the best architecture comes from close collaboration, curiosity and attention to detail.

We offer:

  • exciting and nationally significant projects
  • early project leadership and client exposure
  • flexible and hybrid working
  • structured professional development
  • a friendly, supportive and collaborative studio
  • competitive salary, dependent on experience

How to apply

Please submit:

  • your CV
  • a portfolio demonstrating both design and technical experience
  • your salary expectations
  • a covering letter explaining why you would like to work at Burrell Foley Fischer, what attracts you to our practice and what you’re looking for from your next role.

We want to understand what motivates you, not just where you’ve worked.

Immediate start preferred.

Burrell Foley Fischer is an equal opportunities employer.

No agencies please. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
