Senior interior designer – creative design and delivery
at Link Britannia Design and Development
Link Britannia is hiring a senior interior designer – creative design and delivery to join its team in London.
Link Britannia is a London-based design and development practice specialising in exceptional super-prime private residences design and delivery.
Our bespoke interiors are individually developed in response to each client, property and architectural setting. We combine strong creative design with a practical understanding of how carefully considered interiors are successfully realised.
We are seeking an exceptional senior interior designer to join our collaborative team and contribute to the continued development of Link Britannia’s design identity and growing portfolio.
The role
This is a hands-on senior position for a designer with strong creative judgement, original concept-design ability and a proven commitment to delivery.
Working in close creative dialogue with the design director, the successful candidate will have meaningful ownership of agreed design areas and project packages. They will be encouraged to contribute original ideas, challenge proposals constructively and make clear design recommendations, while aligning the work with the client brief and overall project direction.
The role spans concept design and design development, with the opportunity to remain involved as ideas progress towards implementation. Within agreed briefs and priorities, the successful candidate will be trusted to lead design development, direct supporting team members and progress decisions without unnecessary layers of approval.
The role will involve contributing across a portfolio of private residential projects at different stages, with project priorities and responsibilities agreed with the design director.
The successful candidate will work within an established team with dedicated capability across technical design, FF&E, procurement and visual production. They will not be expected to personally deliver every specialist aspect of a project. Their focus will be creative design leadership, design development and the effective coordination of agreed project areas. This position would suit an accomplished designer seeking greater creative influence, closer access to decision-making and broader involvement throughout the design journey.
Key responsibilities:
- develop original, project-specific interior design concepts based on client aspirations, architectural context and creative direction
- establish a clear and consistent design narrative across individual rooms and complete residences
- develop layouts, key elevations, bespoke joinery concepts, material palettes and design-intent information
- produce and refine visual material using Photoshop, 3D software, rendering platforms and other appropriate visual methods. Direct concept visuals, models, material studies and presentation imagery
- prepare clear briefs for designers, 3D modellers and visualisation team members
- progress approved concepts into coordinated design-development packages.
- review work at appropriate stages and provide specific, constructive design direction
- make considered recommendations and bring design decisions to a clear conclusion
- collaborate with technical, FF&E, procurement and project-delivery colleagues to resolve dependencies, maintain programme momentum and protect the agreed design intent
- support confident and persuasive client presentations
- support the development of other designers through clear briefing, constructive reviews and knowledge sharing
- contribute positively to a studio culture that values creativity, responsibility and collaboration
About you
We are looking for someone who has:
- a recognised qualification in Interior Design, Interior Architecture or a related discipline
- a minimum of seven years’ relevant experience, including substantial experience within the luxury or super-prime residential sector
- a strong portfolio demonstrating original concept design, spatial planning, bespoke joinery, material development and resolved residential interiors
- strong creative flair, design judgement and the ability to establish a coherent design language across a complete residence
- the ability to progress ideas from concept and mood through to clear, feasible and deliverable design information
- a meticulous eye for proportion, detail, materials, finishes and luxury craftsmanship
- strong knowledge of FF&E, specialist suppliers, bespoke products and high-quality finishes
- proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Photoshop, InDesign, Microsoft Office and EstiPC
- confidence producing and directing plans, elevations, models, concept visuals and presentation material
- a clear understanding of how design decisions affect technical coordination, procurement, cost and programme
- experience briefing, reviewing and supporting middleweight and junior designers
- excellent verbal, written and visual communication skills
- strong organisation, personal accountability and the ability to manage multiple project priorities and meet agreed deadlines.
- the confidence to contribute original ideas, make clear recommendations and challenge proposals constructively
- a collaborative approach and the maturity to work in close creative dialogue with the design director
We are particularly interested in designers who understand the difference between using references for inspiration and creating a design that is genuinely specific to the client, architecture and project.
What we offer:
- meaningful creative ownership and responsibility for agreed design areas
- the opportunity to work on exceptional private residential interiors
- involvement from early concept through design development and delivery
- the opportunity to influence important design decisions and contribute original ideas
- support from an established team covering technical design, FF&E, procurement and visual production
- direct access to decision-making within a collaborative studio environment.
- the opportunity to support the development of talented designers
- exposure to the complete journey from design intent through procurement and implementation
- scope to expand project leadership, client responsibility and influence within the studio as the role develops
