James Mackintosh Architects is seeking a architect to join its growing team in Oxfordshire.
We have immediate availability for an ambitious architect to join our small, young and dynamic team of conservation architects and designers based in Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire and are offering a competitive salary subject to experience. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on a wide range of projects to develop your skills as a client facing job running architect, whilst developing the skills required to become accredited in conservation. The role will provide you with the opportunity to take an active part in the design discussions, internal CPD’s and presentations, and more widely in the development of the office and the business. We will support your development by developing your skills as an architect through a structured personal development plan, encouraging a wide range of CPD and supporting you in surveys, site meetings and presentations.
As a small team of designers specialising in conservation and regeneration, you will be working on a variety of residential and cultural projects across the country. A typical week will be incredibly varied and may include preparing heritage statements, condition surveys as well as running design projects, as well as your primary duties including:
- designing and running projects from concept to completion
- planning drawing packages to meet project requirements and deadlines
- coordination of consultants and supplier information

About you
We are looking for an ARB registered architect with the following skills:
- a proficient user of AutoCAD
- ability to design at all project stages
- good written and aural communication skills
- a full driving licence
- good knowledge of the building regulations
- an ability to prepare working drawing packages under supervision
- understanding and ability to work independently, and to plan your workload accordingly
- willingness to travelling to sites across the country, potentially staying away in hotels overnight
