Architect
at Padel Tree
Padel Tree is seeking a qualified architect to join its growing design and delivery team in London.
The successful applicant will work closely with our team across a portfolio of padel venues, including outdoor and rooftop sites, existing building conversions and supporting reception, café and changing facilities.
The role covers projects from feasibility and planning through to technical design and construction. On smaller projects, design and technical information will be produced in house. On larger projects, the successful applicant will help brief, coordinate and review external architects, engineers and specialist consultants.
Salary and working arrangements:
- £40,000 to £46,000 per year, depending on experience
full-time, permanent position - initially home-based, with meetings in London and frequent site visits across the UK
- some office-based working will be required, and Padel Tree may establish a London office in the near future
Essential requirements:
- ARB-registered architect, or currently completing Part 3 with registration expected before commencing the role
- professional experience across the RIBA work stages, particularly planning, technical design and construction
- experience preparing UK planning applications and coordinated technical information
- sound working knowledge of UK Building Regulations, materials and construction
- ability to coordinate information from architects, engineers and other consultants
- strong design judgement, organisation and communication skills
- proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Enscape, Adobe Suite
- immediate right to work in the UK
- willingness to travel frequently to project sites
Key responsibilities:
- preparing feasibility studies, site layouts and concept proposals, reception and café spaces, changing facilities and associated external areas
- preparing planning applications, design and access statements and presentation material
- producing drawings, details, schedules and specifications for projects delivered in house
- coordinating architectural information with structural, civil, M&E and specialist designs
- responding to contractor queries and helping resolve issues during construction
- attending sites to assess opportunities and review progress
- developing repeatable details and standards across Padel Tree venues
Desirable experience:
- leisure, sport, hospitality, commercial fit-out, refurbishment or modular construction
- delivering technical packages
- working directly with contractors during construction
- managing tasks across several live projects
- full UK driving licence
Padel experience is welcome but is not essential. Candidates do not need to have independently led a project through every RIBA stage, but should clearly explain their individual contribution to the work shown.
