Mid-weight interior designer
at Michaelis Boyd

Michaelis Boyd is looking for a mid-weight interior designer to join its London office.

We are an architectural and interior design-led practice that works on a wide range of exciting residential and commercial projects in the UK and across Europe, Asia, Africa, South America and the US. We are involved in all aspects of design, big or small; including unique new build architectural schemes, inspiring interiors through to custom furniture and lighting.

Our ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years’ experience, an excellent design portfolio, and experience of completing complex interior design projects with experience of hospitality projects. We are looking for a person with an independent, progressive attitude who can think on their feet and design simultaneously.

Responsibilities:

  • to produce an FF&E control book (using Specwriter) specifying the fabric, loose furniture, decorative lighting, rugs/carpets, finishes, soft furnishings and accessories/artwork
  • liaising with appointed purchasing agent for enquiries/installation of FF&E items
  • to produce a soft furnishing package for tender
  • work closely with clients, guiding them through presentations and signing off the designs
  • creation of spreadsheets illustrating costs, ensuring the design is in line with clients’ budgets

Required skills:

  • must have experience around FF&E and control books
  • proven client management skills
  • experienced designer
  • must be able to manage a small team
  • French language skills would be a massive bonus but not essential
