Oxfordshire, UK
Experienced furniture designer
at Gabbertas Studio
The Gabbertas Studio is looking for an experienced furniture designer to join its team on a regular, part-time basis, based in Oxfordshire.
You will be working as part of a small team here at the main studio in the countryside in Kingham Oxfordshire, which has a train line direct to Paddington. The studio works on a variety of furniture projects for a number of brands internationally. These are invariably long term and involved journeys requiring enthusiasm, patience and inspiration to make them work.
Work schedule and location
We work on a slightly unconventional schedule. Four consecutive days every three weeks. i.e. four days on then two weeks off, then four days on. These days are agreed between us in advance and are slightly flexible.
The studio is based five minutes from Kingham train station which has a direct connection to Paddington. The studio is surrounded by wonderful countryside and blessed with great restaurants and pubs close by. Other members of the team come up from London and stay for the four days in house locally which is provided. There is also free use of a car when at the studio. So this is regular part time position ideally suited to someone who wishes to pursue other projects when not working at Gabbertas Studio.
Essential experience and skills needed:
- you will have a degree in furniture design and at least three years’ experience in the furniture industry
- you will be totally Rhino literate
- you will have experience using Photoshop, Illustrator and ideally WordPress
- ideally you will be familiar with Keyshot and able to produce high quality renders
- you will have experience of engineering furniture projects and a good understanding of material properties and fabrication processes
- you will be highly organised and have an unerring eye for detail
- you will have an original and sophisticated eye for design and a good knowledge of furniture brands and their designs
- you will be happy to work on a number of projects concurrently and from concept generation through to prototype assessment
In return
A generous daily rate, dependent on experience, but to include an allowance for travel time and with travel costs and accommodation all covered.
