The speed read

An exciting, diverse design studio needs a versatile, experienced writer and EA to supply a wide range of creative copy – including PQQ’s and professional tenders – as well as supporting the creative director in his client communication.

The facts:

You will need to be able to respond to complex and detailed design briefs, quickly understanding the studio’s body of work and how best to present it in response. The role requires total confidence in written voice as well as the ability to translate fractured or abstract text into succinct, elegant copy for all manner of uses.

There will be a level of research required whether into clients, concepts or design precedents and the ability to communicate research quickly and efficiently to the wider team is essential.

Day to day you will work closely with the creative director, helping to communicate his vision across a variety of platforms from direct client communication and design briefs for internal and external teams to project press releases and interviews.

The work is highly varied and the pace can be fast, requiring a quick thinking, pro-active approach and a level of common sense and initiative in order to follow the development of multiple projects at once and to prioritise/stay on top of the director’s varied workload. Supporting him in day to day tasks can involve anything from inbox management to summarising lengthy briefing documents.

You will be joining a highly creative bunch of designers, enjoying the opportunity to support their unique conceptual vision with copy that does justice to its rigour and sensitivity. You will thrive on communication, teamwork and variety, enjoying not knowing what you might need to write/edit next.

You’ll be:

  • a confident writer, able to turn your hand to short or long copy
  • interested and well versed in design, able to understand and communicate abstract and complex concepts making them engaging and accessible to all
  • flexible and proactive, able to build on and develop what you have been given to work with (for e.g short abstract text notes)

You’ll have:

  • a well-organised folio of work or a collection of pieces that show some versatility
  • PA/EA experience ideally within the creative sector
  • good vocabulary and strong grasp of grammar and punctuation.
  • an engaging spirit and a positive attitude
  • boundless curiosity and interest in the field of design and architecture
