Project architect

Winch Design is seeking a project architect to join its office in London.
Role purpose
Our architecture studio is renowned for the design and delivery of international, ultra high end residential projects for private clients. We are looking for an experienced architect, or interior architect who will have a complimentary skill set and thrive in this team. Working within a 35-strong architecture team, you will report into one of our three associates, each running their own sub-team. You will have day to day responsibility for your project, or zone of a project (depending on scale) and will have the knowledge, experience and character to design, collaborate, manage and deliver your project/s to the highest levels of creativity and finish. All on time and within budget. We are looking for people who will make us better.
Key responsibilities and deliverables
Design management:
- support the associate in overseeing and coordinating the delivery of high-quality projects from concept to completion
- produce concept boards for client approval
- prepare and check project design drawings and specification
- work as part of a team in the preparation of production information and drawing packages
- prepare feasibility options for various projects and work with other disciplines (interiors, FF&E) to test the validity of designs
Project management:
- review key project deliverables terms with associate to maintain project progression
- utilise standard studio templates to maintain up-to-date project records alongside contractual document control responsibilities
- conduct site visits for progress review, quality control investigation and updates and coordinate with all third parties
- supervise and maintain internal workflow so that design delivery schedules are maintained
People management:
- bring fresh ideas to the team that are project-appropriate
- discuss ideas and strategies with the project team and solicit their feedback
- prepare for regular project team meetings pertaining to project tasks, deliverables and milestones
- inspire a culture of excellence and continuous improvement, ensuring the delivery of demonstrable high-quality products and services which embrace quality standards
Qualifications and work experience:
- Part 3 or interior architecture qualification is essential
- minimum eight years’ post-qualification experience is essential
- design and delivery of international residential projects is essential
Skills and traits:
- ability to sketch by hand is essential
- advanced AutoCAD, Revit, Photoshop and InDesign skills are essential
- due to the large size of the project, high levels of organisation are essential
- ability to continually work between micro and macro scale is essential
- international site and client liaison experience is essential
- passionate about the creative world,
- ability to build strong working relationships at all levels and collaborate effectively with a range of internal and external contacts

Hiring process
We will complete a minimum two stage interview process. First interviews will start in early July with a view to the right candidate joining the team in early September.
