The University of Stuttgart is seeking a research associate for its BioMat Department at ITKE – Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning, in Stuttgart, Germany.

In the working area ‘architecture – materials – form-finding – digital fabrication.’

The aim of the BioMat department is to combine design, sustainable material development, form-finding, fabrication, biomimetics and intelligent systems in architecture. Teaching, research, form generation, material development and production as well as industrial projects are highly networked. BioMat offers architecture students and industry partners the opportunity to participate in current research projects within the framework of sustainable and intelligent building systems.

Tasks

The work consists of teaching, research and production of prototypes. The position includes participation and management of current and future research projects in the area of ​​ material development and (digital) fabrication, design, form-finding, biomimetics, intelligent materials.

Earning the doctorate degree within the employment time is highly encouraged.

Requirements

The applicant is required to be an architect or civil engineer (diploma or master’s degree) with the qualification to teach bachelor and master students at the university in the fields of design, form generation, new building materials, intelligent and multifunctional building systems and (digital) fabrication techniques.
