Studio17 Design is seeking a product designer on a three-month freelance contract, to join its firm in Cambridge, UK.
Overview
At Studio17 Design we have built a reputation for product innovation in compelling products that have helped our international client base grow their market share. Our design process is grounded in sound research, broad ideation, and user-focussed design development.
Our small studio is situated within an innovation hub in the village of Great Abington, just south of Cambridge. With access to an array of prototyping and manufacturing technologies, our effective design process has delivered multiple award-winning products that are sold globally.
The applicant must demonstrate skill for developing clever, user-centric product innovation, executed in products that are disruptive in the market.
About the role:
- the role is a guaranteed three-month freelance contract, five days a week with the possibility of an extension
- you will be required to work from the studio in Great Abington, Cambridge
- you will be working across a variety of projects for different clients
- you will have fantastic idea generation, verbal and sketch communication
- you will be able to develop and refine a products form language
- you will be proficient in Solidworks, Visualise, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator
- you will have an understanding of a range of different manufacturing techniques, particularly injection moulding
- you will be happy taking direction, working autonomously, but also having a valued input on a products’ development
- you will have at least five years’ experience working from research, through ideation and design development, to design for manufacture
