Position summary
As a senior urban designer/planner, you will be expected to provide design and client relationship leadership. You will design high-end hospitality and resort destinations. Your primary responsibility is to manage and design projects, oversee the development of design ideas, and direct the design team’s daily operation and document production. As a senior member of OBMI, we expect you to become familiarized and to support OBMI’s strategic plan and to become an active, contributing member of our destination creation centers of excellence. Essential job functions:
- design/master plan large-scale projects and developments for private and public clients. Mixed-use, resort destinations, waterfronts and resort communities
- lead all phases of the design process including the creation of conceptual designs, design development, preparing and presenting design drawings, sketches and renderings to represent your ideas to clients
- create a variety of 3D modeling and rendering
- liaise with clients to define project requirements, establish project work plan and deadlines
- ensure that the projects that are assigned to you meet the required budgets and schedule
- you will be expected to create persuasive presentations that meet projects’ objectives
- develop and mentor junior designers in the development of master planning concepts
- lead coordination of design issues with design specialists ad sub-consultants
Actively support business development efforts including cooperation in proposal preparation - responsible for the overall profitability and design quality of the projects
- attend meetings with the office managing director, to report on the status of your projects
- work with consultants to meet overall project objectives
- identify opportunities and facilitate introductions of potential clients to members of the firm
- attend industry networking events and actively participate in relevant associations. Present projects in conferences or events
- promote teamwork among team members
- be accountable for the successful completion of projects
- prepare and maintain team task lists

Qualifications and requirements:
- a bachelor’s or master’s degree in urban design or architecture
- experience; ten years of experience in an architectural office with a focus in hospitality, large-scale master planning/urban design projects
- proficiency in CAD, the Adobe Suite, SketchUp, Photoshop, InDesign, PowerPoint and Revit
- understanding of placemaking and community design (building, street, and public space types plus associated principles)
- design background and LEED AP or Green Associate preferred
- ability to communicate design ideas and direction quickly
- adeptness at hand drawing and sketching
- demonstrated creative ability, including urban, architectural and graphic design
- project organization and management experience
- must be able to multi-task, be a team player, possess a can-do attitude, be a self-starter
- experience with managing project budgets and multi-disciplinary teams
- ability to manage variety of project types in various stages of development
- knowledge of the total project process from concept to delivery
- good verbal and written communication skills in English
- this position may require travel abroad
