Open call for designers – Arte Laguna Prize
at Arte Laguna Prize

Arte Laguna Prize is inviting applications from designers for its 14th edition of Arte Laguna Prize in Venice, Italy.

Entries are open for the 14th edition of Arte Laguna Prize, the world’s most influential competition for emerging artists and designers, which showcases and promotes creative talents giving them many opportunities for gaining international visibility and realising new projects.

Art design

After its launch in 2018, the new edition of Arte Laguna Prize renews the section dedicated to design, giving it a new interpretation that is more art-oriented and supported by Assarredo/FederlegnoArredo, the Italian Federation of wood, cork, furniture, lighting and furnishing industries. The best work selected by the jury will be awarded with a cash prize of €10,000.

The international jury

For art design:

  • Karel Boonzaaijer (Netherlands) conceptual designer, architect and professor at the University of Applied Sciences in Aachen
  • Aldo Cibic (Italy) fundamental name of the made in Italy design, among the founders of Memphis

The other members of the jury are:

  • Igor Zanti (Italy, curator and art critic) – curator of the prize
    Iwona Blazwick (the United Kingdom, director of the Whitechapel Gallery, London)
  • Valentino Catricalà (Italy, contemporary art curator – art section director of the Maker Faire – the European edition)
  • Erin Dziedzic (the United States, chief curator at the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art in Kansas City, Missouri)
  • Zhao Li (China, professor at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing and curator of the Chinese Pavilion at the 53rd Venice Biennale)
  • Riccardo Passoni (Italy, director of GAM – Civic Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art, Turin)
  • Vasili Tsereteli (Russia, director of the Moscow Museum of Modern Art)

The prize

With fourteen years of history, Arte Laguna Prize gives the opportunity to join a huge network of collaborations worldwide, exhibit in the breathtaking location of the Arsenale of Venice, win cash prizes of a total amount of €40,000 and much more.

  • exhibition of the 120 finalist artists
  • Arsenale of Venice, March 21-April 13, 2020
  • 120 finalist works
  • in addition, a selection of works will be exhibited in 2021 at the MMOMA – Moscow Museum of Modern Art

The prize is open to the following artistic disciplines:

  • painting, sculpture and installation
  • photographic art, video art and short films
  • performance, virtual art, digital graphics, land art and urban art
  • art design
