David Phillips is looking for an interior design assistant to join its studio in London.

Type of position: full-time, permanent, central London
The role: interior design assistant
The chosen candidate would ideally suit a graduate or a designer with at least one year’s experience; will be responsible for assisting the senior designer and the design team as well as managing their own smaller projects.
Although the candidate will be trained to grow within the business, we are hoping for someone that obtains that natural ‘know-how’ for interior design and styling. They must also be highly organised and have exceptional attention to detail. They should be a confident team player, with excellent communication skills for both internal and client-related matters. This is the perfect entry-level position which will allow you to gain valuable industry experience in a busy studio.
Requirements:
- personable, with a passion for interiors.
- to be proficient at AutoCAD and/or Vectorworks or equivalent
- 3D modelling and hand sketching abilities also preferable, e.g. SketchUp
- proficient at working with Excel, InDesign and Photoshop
- confident, with mood boards and InDesign presentations
- competent administration and organisational skills
- team player attitude with excellent verbal and written communication skills for both internal and client-related matters
- outstanding attention to detail
Duties and detail:
- assisting the designers in your ‘project’ team
- working with design colleagues on specific large BTR (build to rent) schemes, show apartments and communal spaces when required
- produce design concepts, proposals, mood boards and floor plans
- attend site visits and gain the correct and detailed information required
- budgeting, sourcing and ordering of accessories (online and in-stores)
- assist styling and dressing projects to an excellent standard
- shadow designers and business development managers whenever possible to learn about the business
- liaise with suppliers/clients on behalf of your design team and maintain relationships moving forward
- tidying and organising sample library and design area
- keeping up with the latest trends and informing the team
