Steelcase has a vacancy for a design consultant to join its office in London.

Key objective 

The main objective for the design consultant is to impact the selling process by translating Steelcase research and insights into meaningful and thoughtful, on-brand product application solutions that meet client’s needs.

 Primary responsibilities:

  • the purpose of this role is to proactively impact the selling process by providing product application insights and solutions to our strategic accounts and design firms
  • present/share our insights to end-users as well as influencers research
  • support the increase of share of wallet (SOW) within our major dealers, by providing training (applications – floor plan, leverage design team resources and tools) and sharing best practices with the design teams
  • the intent is to differentiate Steelcase from the competition by providing the client or design firm with a collaborative experience in developing holistic workplace and design solutions
  • the expected outcome is that we will improve our win rate, strengthen our relationships and provide a more valued final solution
  • responds to design application requests of regional sales team in support of regional sales teams priorities, partnering with EMEA global business centres (Cluj) to formulate the design concept and deliverables
  • individual will travel as required for purposes of working closely with clients, dealers and Steelcase teams (UK and Ireland – two days per week outside London,) Munich, Cluj once per quarter, Munich for client visits

Required skills:

  • experience facilitating co-creative workshops with clients and design firms
  • ability to synthesise and translate findings from client and design firm engagements into designed applications
  • experience designing product applications and ability to translate these into insight-led space solutions
  • ability to present and lead discussions to very diverse groups from C-level through to regular employees
  • excellent management skills for collating and delivering complex and diverse content to sales teams
  • ability to work alone and with a distributed team
  • experience of working with Steelcase products would be beneficial
  • ability to develop with applications design concepts
  • well-connected and capable of building strong relationships with design firms and developing client relationships
  • hand sketching skills in order to effectively represent ideas in workshops
  • excellent English skills, other European languages would be beneficial

Required experience:

  • at least a university degree in interior design, architecture, or industrial and organisational psychology
  • experience working in the UK and Ireland region with knowledge of the local markets
  • design background with good understanding of how workspace products and services (such as those from Steelcase) interact with people, space and technology
  • international working experience or working experience in an international organisation would be beneficial
  • strong Microsoft Office skills, including very strong PowerPoint skills
  • SketchUp, AutoCAD and knowledge of the PCON software beneficial
