John Cullen Lighting is hiring a lighting designer to join its team in London.

The role

To work with our clients and project teams to deliver bespoke lighting design layouts from initial client brief, through construction, to project completion for high end luxury properties.

Key responsibilities:

  • design lighting layouts for construction (AutoCAD)
  • develop lighting specifications and control schedules
  • create inspirational presentations for lighting reports including design approach, aspirational images, renders and sketches
  • liaise with project design team to coordinate the lighting designs with other packages
  • present lighting concept and developed design schemes (virtually or in person)
  • attend or lead design meetings, site visits and site surveys as necessary as part of project work
  • complete lighting mock ups/tests to verify design intent
  • liaise with construction team regarding the installation and answer technical queries
  • carry out commissioning of lighting schemes after installation including during antisocial hours
  • demonstrate and advocate the highest creative and technical design skills
  • produce fee proposals based on initial client brief and present to clients
  • feed back to the JC R&D team on new and existing product development projects
  • work closely with the John Cullen sales, project coordination and technical teams to deliver end to end success
  • to assist with CPD seminars and masterclasses

Qualifications:

  • good GCSEs, especially in English, Maths and creative disciplines
  • good A-Levels
  • degree, or equivalent course, in lighting, architecture or interiors

Experience:

  • minimum two of years’ experience in lighting industry with a focus on creative lighting layouts for high end residential or high end hospitality projects
  • experience in a client facing role with the responsibility for managing projects
