Part-I architectural assistants
PDP London is currently looking for Part-I architectural assistants to join its busy London practice.
We have a number of exciting six to twelve month opportunities available for Part-I architectural assistants to gain experience of working on complex residential, hotel and mixed-use schemes.
The role:
- drafting and amending initial feasibility and sketch designs (depending on availability)
- assisting with the development of schemes for planning and other approvals
- assisting with the development of scheme designs to detailed design and on to production information stages
- assisting with the production information including drawings, schedules and assistance with specification writing
- researching materials and product sourcing and selection
- assisting with the development of the coordinated design with the input of other consultants, specialists and contractors
- observe and assist with site inspections and quality control including dealing with contractors’ queries
- observe and assist with meeting, briefing and discussing project requirements and constraints with other consultants and deal with queries, checking and commenting on information supplied by others, and bringing the architectural information up to date
- preparation of sketch, working and presentation models as required
- attending in-house and external CPD activites
Technical skills:
- the post-holder will have achieved a first degree in architecture
- drawing and presentation skills
- ability to work under their own initiative
- computer skills – CAD (training will be given on Revit and/or Vectorworks)
- written and verbal communication skills
- design ability
- awareness of technical standards, regulatory frameworks and an understanding of building technologies, environmental design and construction methods
- awareness of how a business operates
- understand the professional duty of care arising from the relationships between client and architects, employer and employee
- understand the professional duty of care arising from the relationships between client and architects, employer and employee
- ability to assist in contract administration
