Wimberly Allison Tong & Goo is looking for a senior technical to join its team in London.

Summary of position

This position is responsible for assisting the project team with design development and construction documents.  This position requires substantial design development and architectural drafting experience. This position provides support to the interior department by providing extensive architectural CAD, Revit and/or drafting expertise. The position of senior technical requires the ability to mentor the junior technical staff. The senior technical must demonstrate technical knowledge and leadership during all phases of project focusing on design development, construction documents as well as construction administration.

Job requirements

This position requires a Higher National Certificate or Higher National Diploma level of education or equivalent qualification and extensive and substantial experience preferably in hospitality and leisure.

Experience

A senior technician must have broad experience and works successfully with project architects on various project types, size and phases. Requires good technical knowledge in all phases of the design process. Will understand design principles and be able to interpret and develop other conceptual design to all levels of the design process.

The successful candidate must demonstrate the following capabilities:

  • handle confidential information in strict confidence and with great sensitivity
  • proficiency with Windows, Word and Excel software
  • AutoCAD skills are essential
  • extensive similar experience (ONC –OND level or equivalent)
  • knowledge of most phases of the design process
  • the understanding of design principles and the ability to interpret and develop with guidance the conceptual design
  • a substantial level of understanding of design development and all phases of the construction process
  • a thorough level of level of understanding and experience in architectural drafting and design development
  • extensive experience in providing architectural drafting support including detailed drawings, shop drawings and schedules on all phases of a project
  • must have strong interpersonal and written communication skills
  • extensive experience and ability in the use of Revit, AutoCAD-14/2000, Photoshop, Microsoft Word and Excel
  • completed the Construction Specification Certification for Document Technology
  • complete familiarity with ADAAG, NKPA and HSW standards for construction
  • strong leadership qualities
  • a full understanding of the due diligences process
  • a thorough understanding of technical regulations and engineering
  • assures construction documents emphasise on efficiency, quality assurance and code compliance
  • a full understanding of translating design concepts into building assembly

Major responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • assists with development and implementation of project in all phases
  • produce technical information and assist in the production of presentation information
  • supports follow-through of initial design to completion of construction
  • maintains outgoing, positive and productive relationships with project leadership and other team members
  • builds respect and confidence of project team leadership
  • provides architectural drafting support on all phases of a project
  • assure efficient preparation of detailed drawings through schematic design and design development to construction documentation phases on assigned projects
  • interprets verbal and written directions from project leaders into professionally completed documents or products
  • understands and applies technical standards to drafting assignments
  • completes working drawings, design sketches, presentation drawings, shop drawings, diagrams, schedules, (NBS) specification and other computer generated or drafted documents from prepared drawings as required for the project
  • demonstrates leadership in establishing and applying technical guidelines
  • effectively coaches and mentors others
  • implements processes to reduce risks and exposure in all areas of the project
  • assures construction documentation emphasises on efficiency, quality assurance and regulations
