Senior masterplanner/urban designer

HKS is looking for a senior masterplanner/urban designer to join its team in London.

Our London office is seeking a talented and experienced senior masterplanner or urban designer to join our hospitality studio. The role requires an all-round ability to be able to work from concept to detailed design on large scale masterplans on mainly hospitality-led projects. The role presents an opportunity to take on projects with the world’s leading hotel operators and developers working alongside a fantastic multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities:

  • imagine, investigate and present design solutions for medium to large scale masterplans
  • 3D and 2D modelling and technical drawings (plan, sections and elevations)
  • produce analysis, diagrams and illustrative materials
  • produce scale comparison and precedent studies
  • preparation of presentations, reports, models, schedules and documents
  • assist in the coordination of design team activities
  • attends client meetings/project reviews
  • assisting in landscape projects as required

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

  • mid-weight experience in landscape architecture/urban design
  • experience in international masterplanning projects
  • knowledge of urban design theories and placemaking principles
  • knowledge of the principles, methodology and practices of research and mapping data
  • experience in working in a multidisciplinary environment
  • experience in creatively solving design challenges
  • knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Adobe Suite, MS Office (GIS or Rhino an advantage)
  • postgraduate degree in urban design/landscape architecture
  • strong communication skills in English (proficiency in another language an advantage)
  • the ability to multi-task and pick up ways of working quickly and work to deadlines
