HKS is a global architecture firm founded by American architect Harwood K. Smith in 1939. The practice works across architecture, interior design, urban design, branded experiences and structural engineering. The firm specialises in the fields of aviation, civic and cultural, commercial, sports and entertainment, hospitality and residential projects.
Its team of over 1,400 staff is made up of architects, interior designers, researchers, nurses, anthropologists, graphic designers and more. HKS has over 20 offices across the world, spanning the US, Europe, the Middle East and east Asia.
The firm revived historic buildings for an urban healthcare campus in Ohio (pictured above), which involved overhauling a 120-year-old steam plant and a brutalist office building.
