Director of business development - health

HKS is looking for a director of business development – health to join its team in London.

Our London office is seeking a business development leader to join the health team. Business development leaders are client and public-facing experts who are tasked with winning new work, nurturing existing client relationships and pursuing opportunities in line with the needs and strategy of their region and practice.

Skilled at building long-term strategic relationships and marketing complex projects within the NHS and private sector, they work closely within the Health practice, directly with regional studio and practice leaders to generate leads, identify new business opportunities, as well as develop client acquisition and retention strategies to grow the practice within the region. On average 80% of their time should be outward/client pursuit focused.

Responsibilities:

  • maintain and increase outreach to existing business relationships along with the continual development of new relationships
  • grow the health practice: develop and pursue new and existing client relationships through a deep understanding of clients’ enterprise and needs
  • work closely with regional, studio, practice leaders, and Marketing Managers to continually identify and generate business opportunities that broaden the practice in a way that is aligned with the health practice’s strategic plan and firmwide vision
  • assist in the development of marketing content that strengthens the Health practice
  • maintain an understanding of health industry trends and best practices
  • explore and stay abreast of competition to maintain a competitive edge
  • provide strategic input for proposals, presentations, and interviews with prospective clients to increase win rate. Work with teams to prepare for interviews
  • generate and maintain a strong pipeline — leads and prospects — to increase the practice’s reach and influence
  • contribute to regional events calendar – collaborate in developing regional BD and marketing events
  • develop and contribute to annual regional marketing budget including conference attendance and forecasted travel etc
  • recommend and contribute to the best speaking/panels/media platforms to reach our desired network
  • represent and grow HKS and the Health practice through participation of local, regional and national events, including conferences
  • coordinate regional communication and business development strategy between offices/studios, maintain a log of all pursuits and responsibilities
  • work with other business development peers within HKS to be sure methodologies are shared and that any supranational client pursuits are coordinated

Part of the business development leader’s responsibility, and consequently accountability, will be participation in and the maintaining of a robust CRM system.  This encompasses identifying, qualifying and securing business opportunities, coordinating business generation activities with the seller-doers and others necessary to expand the brands influence.  This can also represent BD professionals acting as trainers/coaches to the seller-doers.

Qualifications:

  • bachelors degree, masters degree preferred
  • experience working with Salesforce or similar software, preferred
  • typically have ten years’ experience within health architecture business development, preferably with a focus in the UK and European markets
  • experienced developing lasting client relationships with NHS trusts, private providers and contractors
