Content manager
at Blue Engineering

Blue Engineering is seeking a content manager to join its team in London.

We have a great opportunity for an experienced content manager to join Blue Engineering to share useful and insightful information with the public. You will love storytelling and have an inherent desire to acquire and share knowledge. You will be process and results orientated; ambitious, hands on, and looking to actively develop your abilities within Blue Engineering.

The role is well suited to someone trained in journalism.

Overview of the role

You will be responsible for procuring and creating all the marketing content at Blue Engineering and will spread the word to the public. Blue Engineering is adopting the processes outlined in a book called ‘They Ask, You Answer’ by Marcus Sheridan to maximise the benefits of content marketing. This means we want to educate all those who interact with us and we need someone who can take the information out of the minds of all the great people in our company and get it out into the world.

We want to build a library of articles on topics that cover the whole business. Topics will be written up into articles aimed at two sets of readers: homeowners/laypeople and architects.  The former seeks to understand the basis of the decision-making process and the latter will be more interested in the technical possibilities. Example titles for the articles:

  • what is the difference between timber joists and beam and block?
  • can I take out my chimney breast?
  • choosing the best Architect to work with
  • how Blue Engineering calculates the fee for a project
  • how to hire an apprentice

Responsibilities:

  • curate topics for our website for the purpose of teaching homeowners, architects, developers, builders, potential and existing employees about why and how Blue does what it does
  • interview the staff to build the stack of information you need and write engaging and informative copy
  • write and publish an article written in two styles each day onto our website and promote it on social media channels
  • keep track of the performance of content produced using SEO tools and site analytics
  • work with the management of the company to widen awareness of Blue Engineering’s brand. Attend a management meeting each month to discuss what we can do to grow Blue’s success. Report on key metrics linked to followers and engagement
  • create and publish the monthly internal newsletter: Blue Bulletin
  • help others prepare brochures, internal documents and teaching aids by providing content
  • prepare submissions for industry awards
  • organise the photos and other PR media we have and incorporate them into your work
  • to work within the core values of Blue Engineering, which are:  transparency, longevity, authenticity, innovation, wellness and interdependence

Your knowledge, skills and behaviour:

  • to love to write and edit copy providing clean communication so that readers can understand the content.  The content needs to be clear and concise and can be adapted to the intended reader
  • to have working knowledge of SEO, site analytics and social media engagement
  • to be naturally curious in learning how things work, enjoy interviewing and sharing the knowledge. No prior knowledge of engineering, design, business systems or apprenticeships is needed
  • to be comfortable driving and managing your own workload and proactive in gathering the information you need
  • to have high standards, with the ability to show versatility and seek out the best ways to reach the public with our message
  • to have the ability to keep up to date with current trends and build into the content planning
  • to be professional and well presented
