Bow Tie Construction is seeking a senior architectural technologist/senior design coordinator and design manager to join its team in Buckinghamshire, UK.
Two times RIBA & CIBSE award winning eco-contractor Bow Tie Construction seeks a talented senior architectural technologist/senior design coordinator/design manager with exceptional design and 3D modelling skills and passion for sustainability.
Coordination in Autodesk Revit and Inventor are essential to our construction workflows and we are now integrating VR. The successful candidate will lead our growing design team and report to the managing director. Their main responsibilities will be ensuring timely delivery of information packages to all stakeholders in-line with RIBA plan of works, working from a friendly and sociable office with excellent air quality in High Wycombe, Bucks.
With projects on Grand Designs, Old House New Home and Don’t Move, Improve!, the successful candidate will be working for London’s premium Passivhaus construction company that punches well above its weight. The candidate would be managing a growing team and have ownership of 3D deliverables and the satisfaction of nurturing a small number of projects from inception to completion.
All of our projects are low energy or zero carbon making this is a great position for someone with sustainability ethics who wants to live what they believe and know they are making a tangible difference to reducing global warming on a daily basis. We are working directly with four local authorities who want to apply our learnings and retrofit experience to transition their housing stock to zero carbon.
Required skills and experience:
- appropriate degree, qualifications and training
- five to ten years architectural experience on projects valued between £600k – £10M
- demonstrable passion for low and zero operational carbon construction
- guru level Autodesk Revit 3D – If you are invited for an interview you will be set tasks in Revit to complete on the day
- the ability to manage a team, multiple projects and own time to meet competing deadlines
- good understanding of construction sequencing, UK building regulations and the RIBA plan of works
- the ability to gain the confidence of managers ensuring SMART objectives for the department being managed by the candidate
- logical thinking, good mathematical and excel skills
- experience of Stage 1 – 4 technical design in Revit
- operating standard internal project management and administrative systems
- excellent spoken English and communication skills
- self-starter independently researching appropriate products, materials, new design techniques etc.
Additional beneficial skills/qualities:
- BIM management/coordination – advising on the relevant levels of model and data detail, clash detection, data conversion, and model co-ordination
- experience in Passivhaus and sustainable building design
- experience designing for local authorities
- passion for architecture and design and the wider implications of BIM for the construction industry
- Navisworks
