Part 2 architectural assistant
at StateStudio

StateStudio has an opportunity for an experienced Part 2 architectural assistant to join its small team in East London.

This role will give you the opportunity to be involved in a number of private and commercial residential projects across all stages and work in a young, positive and supportive environment.

The ideal candidate will be creative, confident and work very well in a small close knit team. You will also have experience working on exceptional, contemporary design projects.

The successful candidate for this role will have spent a minimum of one or two years post Part 2 working in a UK-based, small or medium-sized residential design studio. Whilst exceptional design skills are a prerequisite, you will have an understanding of UK planning legislation, the building regulations and be familiar with general building practices. Evidence of an understanding of contemporary design detailing will be preferred.

You will need to be well-organised, self-motivated, and open-minded. Qualifications from all RIBA stages (Part 1/2/3) will be considered, but applicants must have a minimum of two years’ professional experience in a residential practice overall.

As well as having a broad role developing, designing and learning to run projects, the ideal candidate will be someone who can help us grow the practice, in particular in low-energy, low-carbon, fabric first design.

You will:

  • be able to produce clear, coordinated drawings
  • be able to produce 3D visualisations to capture and communicate the design intent at all stages
  • have good hand-sketching and model making skills
  • have some experience in the production and coordination of stage 4 documentation for tender and construction
  • have clarity and confidence in communication; in writing, drawing and in person
  • be able to work closely with other consultants to develop pre-construction information
  • have a high proficiency in Vectorworks, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office
  • 3D rendering skills (compatible with the above) will be preferred

If you would like to be considered please submit the below information:

  • a CV
  • a portfolio of practice based projects (including drawings you worked on and photographs of the project) that demonstrate exceptional design experience and all of the above skills and experience
  • letters of recommendation

All documents should be in a PDF format with no links to external websites.

Applicants must have relevant work permits and already be living in the UK at the time of application.

Please do not send hard copies of applications – use the ‘apply’ link below (less than 5MB).

We regret that it is likely that we can only respond to successful candidates.

We will not accept introductions by agencies.
