Architectural technician

Granit Architects is seeking an architectural technician to join its team in London.

Essential skills:

  • a relevant architecture degree or architectural technician qualification with at least three years’ experience working on RIBA stages 1-4
  • excellent knowledge in UK construction knowledge, building regulations and technical understanding of products and building methods
  • strong organisational and time management skills to ensure meeting tight deadlines
  • very high-level communication skills and fluent in English, written and spoken
  • a keen eye for detail, as well as the ability to see the bigger picture of a project
  • must have experience managing various tasks on multiple projects simultaneously across design and delivery, within the assigned budget and deadline
  • experience and a working knowledge of using Archicad or AutoCAD skills with an understanding of architectural conventions, including floor plans, elevations, sections, RCP and electrical layouts and working in a 3d BIM environment
  • knowledge of Photoshop, InDesign, MS Office
  • ability to take and interpret instructions and work with minimum supervision, yet need to be confident in asking for help
  • must have good attention to detail and excellent time keeping
  • demonstrable permit to work in the UK long term

Key responsibilities:

  • you will be working on a number of residential projects for private and commercial clients, simultaneously, and at different stages
  • supporting architects, associates and directors and the interiors team at key stages of projects
  • produce technical drawings and specifications both by hand and CAD (ArchiCAD)
  • create detailed technical specifications and drawings i.e. floor plans, electrical plans, bathroom and kitchen plans and elevations, bespoke cabinetry and joinery plans
  • working closely with a team of other professionals such as M and E engineers, structural engineers
  • carrying out research and writing reports
  • potential visits to building sites and client meetings
  • maintain/organise project files, schedules and specifications

Salary is dependent on experience and in line with the RIBA salary guidelines.
