Hobson’s Choice seeks a senior kitchen and/or bathroom designer to join its showroom team in Bath, UK.

Do you have  five years or more proven kitchen and/or bathroom design and sales experience at the high-end of the market? Would you like to progress your career in a leading influential independent company, working with exceptional products including bulthaup kitchens and Rimadesio interior solutions? If so, our exciting senior kitchen and bathroom designer role could be the right position for you.

We are looking for someone with a solid sales track record, able to convert new prospects into clients whilst building long-lasting relationships with both domestic and professional contacts. The right person will have an established list of design and build related connections with whom they have previously worked.

Working from our Bath showroom, you will be able to offer a range of design choices to our clients. Exploring their individual needs, offering guidance, suggesting new opportunities, and translating their feedback into project winning designs.

You will be joining as a valued and influential member of a highly-talented creative design team, supporting junior and mid-level designers with their professional development and helping to create the distinctive Hobson’s Choice experience for our clients.

The successful person will join a forward-thinking company more aligned to an Architect practice or Interior design firm than a kitchen/bathroom retailer. For over 40 years, we have been designing and installing the highest quality products in properties across the South of England and Wales. We are now looking to grow the business with ambitious targets and ideas for the future.

The role:

• liaise directly with clients to arrange showroom consultations and define project briefs
• create design schemes that explore, suggest opportunities, and answer the client’s expectations – presented as detailed plans and elevations
• be the single point of contact for your client throughout their design journey – from the initial learning and design phase through to planning, quotation, sale, installation and aftercare
• be a skilled sales negotiator with a strong awareness of commercial requirements and risk management
• specify and accurately order products using Easy Quote (software experience preferable but not essential)
• manage the installation phase of a project, booking suppliers, contractors and installers
• prepare schedules and technical documentation for the fitting team
• support junior and mid-level designer professional development
• actively engage with associated design and build professionals
• support the further development objectives of the business

The requirements:

• a minimum of five years proven sales track record of kitchen and/or bathroom design and sales at the high-end of the market
• software – MS Office/CAD (Experience of VectorWorks would be beneficial, not essential)/customer relationship management (CRM) system
• a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle

The offer:

• salary from £35,000 (based on experience and competency) We align our salary expectation with similar professional design industries, architecture and interior design practices. With a secure competitive salary, you will be able to concentrate on doing what we do best, delivering incredible client service and the very best design
• hours – 08:30 – 5:30 pm Mon – Fri /10 – 5 pm Sat (40 hours, five-day week)
• designers are expected to work two in every three Saturdays. Day off in the week for Saturday
• 25 days holiday and bank holidays
• continual personal development with regular in-house and supplier training opportunities
• immediate start
