David Phillips is seeking an interior designer to join its team in Manchester.

David Phillips Group has a 22 year, expansive understanding of the UK property market and work with PRS funds, individual investors, developers, estate and letting agents, property managers and institutional investors alike, to assist them in maximising their investment opportunities.

Within the David Phillips Group, their brands and services cover all that is required within the property furnishing sector including; interior design, furniture and home accessories, installation and styling on single and multi-unit platforms. The role of ‘Middleweight designer’ means the individual to be responsible for managing their own projects from concept to installation, taking a client briefing document and translating this into a deliverable, costed and attractive design scheme that is professionally presented to the client.

The role: interior designer, middleweight – Manchester

We are looking for an Interior designer based in Manchester or the surrounding area with at least three to four years’ experience that can work across our housing and student accommodation/contract department providing design support as well as managing their own projects. Working closely with the senior team to provide detailed and tailored responses to client briefs; taking projects from concept through to installation.

The environments that we specialise in are:

  • student accommodation
  • residential – retirement living
  • residential – housing
  • universities

The candidate should be personable, have excellent attention to detail, a passion for interiors with a strong commercial awareness. This role requires someone that has Initiative and can also maintain time-management across multiple projects and the ability to collaborate closely with colleagues from other departments and take direction from your senior team.

Main activities:

  • interior and spatial design of commercial and residential projects, including 2D and 3D modelling
  • producing ‘sample’ or ‘mood’ boards for presentation to clients.
  • creation of presentation documents for client meetings
  • attending site visits and client meetings
  • sourcing bespoke product or finishes
  • sourcing upholstery fabrics
  • onsite installations including styling and dressing
  • project administration
  • they must also be highly organised and have exceptional attention to detail
  • they should be a confident team player, with excellent communication skills for both internal and client related matters. This is the perfect position which will allow you to gain valuable industry experience

Requirements:

  • BA Hons interior design or equivalent degree and interior design qualification
  • strong space planning skills
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • outstanding attention to detail
  • strong administration and organisational skills
  • proficient in AutoCAD, SketchUp. V-Ray an advantage
  • proficient in Photoshop and InDesign
  • proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
  • personable, with a passion for interiors
  • confident, with mood boards and digital presentations
  • team player attitude with excellent English verbal and written communication skills for both internal and client related matters
  • full UK driving licence beneficial
