David Phillips is seeking a middleweight interior designer to join its team in Manchester, UK.

David Phillips Group has a 15 year, expansive understanding of the UK property market and work with PRS funds, individual investors, developers, estate and letting agents, property managers and institutional investors alike, to assist them in maximising their investment opportunities.

Within the David Phillips Group, their brands and services cover all that is required within the property furnishing sector including; interior design, furniture and home accessories, installation and styling on single and multi-unit platforms. This makes it possible to provide turn-key services to the highest profile developments throughout the whole of the UK.

Building on their recent successes, a new role has been developed that requires a ‘Middleweight designer’. The chosen candidate will be responsible for managing their own projects from concept to installation, including dressing show apartments and/or communal spaces. This involves taking a client briefing document and translating this into a deliverable, costed and attractive design scheme that is professionally presented to the client.

Most of the projects to be worked on will be for the Build to Rent (BTR) sector, within large scale developments in London and the UK. This type of work requires furniture design schemes for multiple unit purposes and Show Apartments that are fully dressed, from wallpaper and paint to soft furnishings . The in-house product team assist you and your team in the selection of existing or developed products, that can be used in our offering.

The role: interior designer, middleweight

The chosen candidate, would ideally suit a designer with at least 4 years of experience; preferably with experience in the BTR sector. They will be responsible for managing their own projects and pitching to clients and when required they will assist the senior designer on larger BTR (build to rent) projects.

They must also be highly organised and have exceptional attention to detail. They should be a confident team player, with excellent communication skills for both internal and client related matters. This is the perfect position which will allow you to gain valuable industry experience.

Requirements:

  • degree or equivalent in interior design
  • personable, with a passion for interiors.
  • to be proficient at AutoCAD
  • 3D modelling and hand sketching abilities also preferable, e.g.SketchUp
  • proficient at working with Excel, Indesign and Photoshop
  • confident, with mood boards and digital presentations
  • competent administration and organisational skills
  • team player attitude with excellent English verbal and written communication skills for both internal and client related matters
  • outstanding attention to detail
  • full UK driving licence would be desirable
  • CSCS card holder would be desirable

Duties and detail:

  • managing projects from conception to completion; within a structured projects team
  • design BTR & FF&E schemes, show apartments and communal spaces including pitching these schemes to clients
  • working with in-house product teams to define scheme product selections
  • produce detailed design concepts, proposals, mood boards and 2d/3d floor plans
  • attend site visits, review layout drawings and update
  • day-to-day design administration and communication internally and externally
  • budgeting, sourcing and ordering of accessories (online and in-stores)
  • style and dress projects to an excellent standard
  • keeping up to date with industry news and the changing marketplace; bringing this knowledge into the team and the work to ensure we are always exceeding clients expectations
