International business development and contracts manager

CHYBIK+KRISTOF is hiring an international business development and contracts manager to join its team in Prague, Czech Republic.

CHK has an opportunity for a full time international business development and contracts manager to join its studio at the earliest opportunity.

As the studio is growing with increasingly international high profile, creative projects, we are expanding our team with this newly created role. You will be instrumental in securing new projects and protecting the studio’s interests as it develops into new markets and increasing number of projects.

Business development responsibilities:

  • create project communication strategy and identify business development strategies, reporting to CEO and senior management on a weekly basis
  • drive implementation of strategies to secure new direct commissions/partnerships and clients
  • develop new materials as required to support business development activities; including writing, designing and preparing responses to RFQs/RFPs/RFIs
  • prepare time schedules, fee and scope estimations with support from CEO and senior management
  • research prospective business in targeted markets, pursue leads and follow through to a successful agreement
  • assess and develop recommendations for potential new projects
  • maintain relationships with current clients and identify new prospects
  • possess a strong understanding of our services and products, our competition in the industry and positioning
  • follow the latest industry developments and stay up-to-date on corporate competitors
  • update databases for existing and new client relationships and leads

Contract management key responsibilities:

  • work closely with all stakeholders to agree appropriate services, resources, fees and expenses
  • lead the negotiating with existing and new international clients on design contracts and legal documents with the support of the CEO and lawyer and senior management
  • review, draft and amend design contracts with particular attention to risks and legal details, reporting to the CEO and senior management
  • drive and manage contract negotiation process with clients, advisors and stakeholders
  • work closely with design teams (project managers) to administrate design contracts
  • develop and maintain standards and procedures for minimizing risk and ensure effective processes.

You should have:

  • the understanding to carry out commercial and legal contract reviews, highlighting issues and risks to the studio
  • excellent writing skills to prepare and amend commercial and legal documentation, such as design agreements, consultant collaboration agreements, NDA’s, fee proposals, scope of services
  • judgement to recommend possible ways to resolve contract issues
  • strength of character to handle high-pressure situations such as client contract negotiations in order to represent the studio’s position on contract and BD matters in a firm but friendly manner
  • excellent communication skills to present any fee, proposal or contract issues in a clear and concise manner
  • organized to keep contract documents and fee information in good order
  • a degree in business or architecture is advantageous
  • fluent in both written and spoken English, other language advantageous
  • creative skills – seeing new ways existing opportunities could be developed, or finding completely new routes for business development
  • proficiency in MS Office and Adobe CS (particularly InDesign)
