Cobal is looking for a technical designer to join its team in Newbury, UK.
We’re growing fast and are seeking a talented full-time technical designer with a passion for product and manufacturing within a signage and wayfinding context to help people navigate and connect with their environments.
The role
The role is centred around the design of the technical aspects of signage production, wayfinding products and placemaking elements, working across multiple projects, but with the time and space to ideate and craft beautiful and functional solutions.
Working alongside the design and production teams, you will be taking a leading role in the specification of products, creating 2D and 3D drawings and models to enable manufacture.
You will also have the opportunity to design new products to expand our in-house product range, as well as supporting the design team deliver signage and wayfinding projects for a range of clients and environments from concept to production drawings.

The role involves national travel.

You’ll embrace the company culture and appreciate good design and innovation. This role requires excellent 2D design and 3D modelling skills, along with a broad knowledge of materials and manufacturing techniques.

- Excellence: Accomplished at producing accurate technical drawings to BS8888:1
- excellence: a strong understanding of material selection, finish specifications and an awareness of industry standards

Desirable:
- the ability to read architectural plans and elevations
- experience in the sign design or related industry
- typography, graphic design and photo-visualisation skills
Experience in using following software:
- 3D CAD Software (preferably Autodesk Inventor and Revit) 3D visualisation/rendering software (ideally KeyShot) is a strong advantage
- excellent working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, including Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop
- solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office
Qualifications and experience:
- a degree in industrial design, product design or other related equivalent degree; but we would consider candidates with real life experience.
- demonstrable design talent, and an outstanding portfolio of professional design experience
Salary range: £24,000–£30,000 per annum
