Part 3 BIM architect/technician

Undercover Architecture is seeking an experienced Part 3 BIM architect/technician to join its team in London.

Undercover is a multidisciplinary architecture and design practice, with studios in London and Provence. We are a team of young, vibrant, maverick architects and designers committed to excellence, innovation, attention to detail and strategic thinking.

We are seeking an experienced Part 3 architect who will specialise in BIM to join our studio in London. The candidate will be involved in the development of a special one-off case study house in central London. The right applicant will have excellent graphic, design and technical skills together with an active interest and knowledge in sustainable design. Experience in BIM coordination and collaboration with multiple external consultants is essential, as well as setting up a project from concept stage. This role will mainly be focused on co-ordination, so will not suit a BIM manager.

Your work at Undercover will cover all design and construction stages and offer you a well-rounded and diverse experience.

Applicants should demonstrate:

  • the ability to produce coordinated and detailed design, tender and construction packages
  • coordinate and manage BIM project data sets/workflow and project set up
  • mentor and manage the other team members less experienced using BIM
  • build and develop in-house BIM standards, templates, workflows and procedures
  • take responsibility for the aforementioned design and construction packages
  • coordinate with and review information from the wider design team, consultants, contractors and client bodies
  • experience in construction documentation including detailing, scheduling and the production of specification documentation
  • a comprehensive understanding of construction technology which is imperative. Additional knowledge of general building regulations is also essential
  • understanding of procurement processes
  • where appropriate monitor construction work in progress to ensure compliance with the design
  • skills in preparing, developing and editing concept drawings, models, images or other documentation related to the design
  • experience understanding, preparing and correlating lighting/electrical layouts as well as mechanical services
    responsibility and experience across all RIBA Stages 0-7
  • discipline in their presentation and organisation of work
  • the ability to detail joinery as well as specify fittings (sanitaryware, ironmongery, bespoke materials, fabrics, furnishings etc.)
  • a good team-worker and show professionalism and confidence in communications

Required technical skills:

  • must be Vectorworks 2D and BIM level 2 proficient
  • 3D software knowledge using Rhino or SketchUp
  • Adobe Creative Suite

Highly competitive salary – dependent on experience.
