Klas Hyllen Architecture is looking for a Part 3 architect or architectural technologist to join its studio in Bradford on Avon, UK.
About us
Our work is focused on the design of high-quality one-off homes, both new-build houses and retrofit/extension projects to existing properties.
We believe in simplicity with a high attention to detail, we love to celebrate good craftsmanship and we are interested in the way our designs can manipulate light and bring us closer to nature or the outside. We aim to make our designs age beautifully, responding to changes in season, and use, and we add subtle beauty along the way to all our projects.
Our studio was established in 2013 and this recruitment is a major step in our development. The right candidate will be expected to become an integral part of our future as a practice, with key responsibilities in the delivery of beautifully crafted and bespoke homes.
About you
You’ll need to love detailing and to think creatively about how our work is constructed, both architecturally, aesthetically and environmentally.
Your primary tasks will be focused around RIBA stages 3-5 in the coordination and delivery of technical information and specifications. You’ll be expected to have good experience in the delivery of technical designs and specifications, in leading a design team of consultants, coordinating design information, and in on-site contract administration.
You’ll be expected to be experienced in the use of AutoCad and SketchUp, and aid in the development of making our specification process more rigorous. As such, NBS experience would be valuable, alongside existing Revit skills.
You would be expected to be self-motivated, proactive, well-organised and meticulous. You’ll also need to be a good communicator, both with clients, other consultants and contractors, thriving in your role as the project lead.
Our studio
The right candidate would be expected to work from our office at Studio Bacchus in the heart of Bradford on Avon. We run Studio Bacchus as an open-plan creative work hub alongside our architecture practice with space for 16 people. As such the office offers the feel of a larger work community. Bradford on Avon is a beautiful historic town along river Avon just outside Bath with a vibrant community and with the countryside on our doorstep. We’d like to think that the successful candidate would enjoy a healthy work-life balance.
Klas Hyllen Architecture’s work ethos is one where we strive to be good role models for our children first and foremost. We believe strongly in efficient working to ensure we can enjoy time away with family. In our view, time off is essential in being able to be our best when we are at work. In architecture, there are always periods of intense work, however we actively encourage longer periods of time off to re-set and rest.
As such we close our offices at regular intervals for a total of 6 weeks every year, on top of this we offer an additional 2 weeks of holiday.
Start date is as soon as possible and the position is offered full time. Salary will be discussed directly with the successful candidate and offered based on experience.
A driving licence to drive in the UK is essential.
