Education and experience
Must have a university degree in interior design or interior architecture with eight plus years’ post-graduate experience. Experience working in Africa is a plus.
We are looking for a talented senior interior designer, with proven experience of successfully leading an interior design team and projects from inception to completion. You will have a portfolio of high-quality interiors demonstrating hospitality, residential, civic, and commercial/mixed-use projects. The candidate must demonstrate exceptional skills in: design, coordination, and management with a high attention to detail.
Required skillset:
- must have a university degree in interior design or interior architecture with seven plus years’ post-graduate experience
- successfully taken projects from inception to completion
- proven ability to develop conceptual designs
- experience of FF&E selection, budgeting, scheduling, and procurement
- a good understanding of construction and manufacturing of FF&E (materials, finishes, detailing and scheduling) and procurement
- exceptional attention to detail across all aspects of design, FF&E and management
- experience in dealing with clients, contractors, and other suppliers in a professional manner
- experience, knowledge and proficiency in Revit, Photoshop, InDesign, and Office Suite
- self-motivated but also an integral team player who can work quickly and efficiently in an organised manner
- excellent communication skills
- efficient in time management, resourcing and managing the junior design team
- experience working in Africa is a plus
Responsibilities:
- working closely with the principal to understand and then translate the project vision and aesthetic into a built project
- managing projects efficiently, within schedule and within budget in close cooperation and oversight with associate director and global head of interiors as a senior member of the project team
- managing and briefing the design team on live projects outlining the deliverables on each phase and scope of works
- leading, collaborating, and/or participating in project workshop and design team meeting with external consultants
- preparation of concepts, mood boards, preliminary and final designs, and development of details, furniture, fixtures, and lighting layouts
- organisation of workflow with colleagues, 3D visualisers and others
- developing detailed designs and selection of materials and finishes
- managing the selection, budgeting, scheduling, and procurement of FF&E products
- mentoring and directing junior and middleweight designers
- building and growing existing client and supplier relationships
