Sustainability director

One Works is looking for a sustainability director to join its Milan office.
The sustainability director will strengthen our profile across a range of markets by leading the implementation of innovative and cost-effective sustainability strategies for our clients.
The ideal candidate should have a breadth of experience and the technical skills to develop energy and environmental strategies of new projects and the ability to work with a multidisciplinary design team in order to provide innovative solutions across all the design phases..
As a senior member of the team, you will play a large role in supporting One Works’ business strategy to increase market share and secure new, and strengthen existing, business relationships both in Italy and abroad. You will help clients consider the environmental impact of design through services such as energy modelling, carbon consulting, envelope analysis, sustainability master planning, LEED®, BREEAM & WELL® consulting, and more. As leader of the Sustainability Team across the organisation, you will undertake the effective management of both people and finances, to achieve and exceed budget. Job requirements:
- master’s degree in architecture and/or engineering
- seven to ten years of experience in leading sustainability initiatives, programs, or project strategies in an A/E firm or equivalent
- deep knowledge of sustainability standards and protocols
- excellent experience with multiple projects in leading, producing, or coordinating the process and documentation for LEED/other third-party standards
- LEED/BREEAM accreditation is a plus
- experience in LCA and carbon footprint analysis
- working knowledge of strategies and systems related to energy efficiency, daylighting, indoor air quality, materials assessment, stormwater management, and other common topics
- strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical and other systems as they relate to sustainable design
- strong interpersonal skills, which facilitates trust and improves work performance from others, and experience of communicating effectively with both colleagues and clients
- ability to work in a fast-paced environment, where flexibility is essential
- track record in delivering a variety of projects in different countries of the world
- interest and enthusiasm for the built environment
- effective project organisation and communication skills, as well as a problem-solving attitude
- a self-starter, with an independent and hands-on approach

Duties and responsibilities:
- ability to manage staff, time and fees effectively
- strong mentoring capabilities
- set goals, prioritize and plan work activities for self-management and use time efficiently
- prepare and manage work plans for sustainable design work, schedules, budgets, staffing projections and fees for large projects, and coordinate billing
- collaborate with design and production staff, construction administrator and consultants
- understand contractual liabilities as they relate to projects sustainable design work, including fee calculations
- integrate sustainable design principles with project design team and maintain design integrity through all phases
- review documents to ensure quality, coordination, and compliance with the requirements of deliverables in all phases
- guide and direct project team and consultants for appropriate materials, systems and solutions to achieve sustainable design goals
- review cost estimates and conduct value analysis on sustainable design initiatives
- fully aware of current trends in the industry
- does research on materials and design options available in sustainable design
