Intermediate designer
Steinberg Architects has an opportunity for an intermediate designer to join its growing practice in San Jose, California.
Steinberg is an international award-winning architecture, urban planning, and interior design firm with offices in Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Jose and Shanghai, China.
Steinberg’s San Jose California office is seeking a talented intermediate designer with a minimum of five years of experience in multi-family residential, higher education, and civic projects.
The candidate will develop concepts under the guidance of the design director/principal or senior designer, offer a unique perspective and strategic eye on aesthetic issues, and have a passion for and the ability to timely iterate design options and explorations.
Intermediate designer role qualifications
– outstanding manual and computer visualisation skills and ability to develop functional plans, elevations, sections, and 3D models from programmatic or prototype information
– understanding of and experience with structural, mechanical, and electrical systems coordination
– experience in schematic design, design development, construction documentation, and construction administration phases
– ability to collaborate with senior staff to develop layout of construction document sets and list of required specification sections and basic materials
– excellent analytical, problem-solving, and storytelling skills
– other responsibilities include: programming and user interface, field surveys, and product research
– experience and advanced skills in industry standard software such as Revit, AutoCad, Rhino, and Sketchup are a must
– experience in physical model making and operation of laser cutters and 3D printers is also desired
– specific project experience with California/Bay Area cities approval process a plus
– degree in Architecture required. An advanced degree in Architecture is preferred.
